Registration / Rechartering

Registration:

Re-chartering:

  • 90 days before charter renewal the District Executive renews the annual charter agreement with the Executive Officer of the chartered organization.

  • 60 days before charter renewal the commissioner and unit committee conduct a membership inventory of youth and adults.

  • 45 days before the charter renewal the commissioner and unit committee chairman conduct the charter renewal meeting, which includes identifying youth and adults to re-register, completing forms and collecting fees.

  • On-line Internet Rechartering may be completed within a sixty-day period of the unit’s expiration date.

  • 30 days after charter renewal, a formal charter presentation is conducted by the District Commissioner or Unit Commissioner.

NOTE: January and February are the major months for rechartering. Recharters cannot be posted and transmitted to National until the first day of the following month of expiration, i.e., a January expiration charter is posted and transmitted after February 1st.  Please refer to the Charter Renewal Envelope for a more detailed explanation to this process.

Address/Position Change:  Any address changes are made by the support staff.  Please include all names in the household that need to be changed.  This information is sent to National the same day it is processed.  Position changes require a new *adult application. The latest version of the adult application must be used as they have changed due to the National Office procedure for Criminal Background Check.

Individual Registrations:  Units should be using the latest version of the *adult application as they have changed due to the National Office procedure for Criminal Background Check.  Applications are processed as received and transmitted to National the same day.

*No adult registration will be processed without a social security number, all required questions answered, and all required signatures.

Boys’ Life Subscriptions:  Processed within a week and transmitted to National the same day as processed.  Boys’ Life begins two months after transmission and will run concurrent with the unit charter. Additional subscriptions will be renewed on a yearly basis coinciding with the unit’s recharter date.
